Bhopal/Barcelona: On the concluding day of his official visit to Spain, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav explored Barcelona’s world-renowned architectural and cultural landmarks, drawing inspiration to develop theme-based parks and art-centric public spaces in Madhya Pradesh. The CM visited Park Güell, Sagrada Familia, and the Picasso Museum, emphasizing that such global examples offer a powerful blueprint for urban beautification, heritage conservation, and cultural tourism back home.
Park Güell: A Blueprint for Urban Green Spaces in MP
Dr Yadav began the day at Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by the iconic architect Antoni Gaudí. The CM admired elements like the Dragon Staircase, Hypostyle Hall with 86 columns, and the Serpentine Bench, praising their integration of natural forms with architectural creativity.
He noted that similar theme-based public parks – blending traditional Madhya Pradesh artistry with ecological sensibilities – could greatly enhance urban spaces across the state. “Park Güell is a shining example of how nature and architecture can harmonize,” he said. “We can reimagine our public parks in this way to promote green development, tourism, and cultural pride.”
Sagrada Familia: Vision for Sacred Sites in MP
Later, CM Dr Yadav visited the Sagrada Familia, a monumental basilica still under construction after 140 years and hailed as a masterpiece of religious architecture. He appreciated Gaudí’s organic design philosophy, intricate symbolism, and the deep spiritual context embedded in the structure.
He proposed that similar long-term and globally relevant architectural planning be adopted for the development of spiritual sites in Madhya Pradesh such as Ujjain, Omkareshwar, and Chitrakoot. “This shows how religious architecture can be timeless and internationally revered,” he said.

Picasso Museum: Global Stage for Local Art
Concluding the visit, the CM explored the Picasso Museum, home to works from Picasso’s Cubist era and his “Las Meninas” series. He interacted with exhibits reflecting artistic expression, innovation, and interpretation.
Inspired by this, Dr Yadav emphasized digital and global promotion of Madhya Pradesh’s indigenous art forms like Gond, Phad, and Mandana. “Art is not just for display – it’s a medium of employment, education, and tourism. We must ensure our traditional art finds its voice globally,” he asserted.
Structured Action Plan for Cultural Renaissance in MP
Dr. Yadav stated that his visit was not just ceremonial but a mission to bring structured, long-term transformation in the areas of art, culture, architecture, and religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh.
He affirmed that international models like those in Barcelona provide valuable lessons in public participation, design excellence, and cultural preservation. “We are returning with a vision – to create spaces in Madhya Pradesh that speak of our rich heritage in a modern, engaging way,” he said.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Delhi via Dubai later in the evening.
