Mumbai: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Maharashtra government on Thursday issued transfer orders for 21 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the rank of Superintendents of Police (SP) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP). The state home department’s order includes high-profile names such as Shaurya Chakra awardee Somay Munde and Archit Chandak, who was injured during communal violence in Nagpur earlier this year.

Shaurya Chakra Awardee and 2016 batch IPS officer Somay Munde, formerly SP of Latur, has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Munde was decorated with the Shaurya Chakra for his leadership in a critical anti-Naxal operation.
2018 batch IPS officer Archit Chandak, previously DCP in Nagpur, has been posted as the SP of Akola. Chandak sustained injuries during communal clashes in Nagpur in March 2025.
Major District Reassignments:
SPs of 12 districts have been reshuffled in this large-scale administrative move.
Raigad SP Somnath Gharge has been shifted to Ahilyanagar, while Anchal Dalal, Commandant of Pune’s State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), will replace him in Raigad.
Ahilyanagar SP Rakesh Ola, Satara SP Sameer Shaikh, and Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Raj Tilak Roshan have been moved to DCP roles in Mumbai.
Kolhapur SP Mahendra Pandit has been appointed as DCP, Thane City.
Mumbai DCP Mangesh Shinde has been transferred as SP, Nagpur Railway Police, while Tushar Doshi, currently SP, Railway Police, will become the SP of Satara.
Additional Transfers:
- DCP Mohan Dahikar has been appointed SP, Sindhudurg.
- Jayant Meena, SP in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has replaced Somay Munde as SP, Latur.
- Balasaheb Patil, SP Palghar, has been reassigned to Nashik Rural, with Gadchiroli Additional SP Yatish Deshmukh taking over his post in Palghar.
Other notable changes include:
- Yogeshkumar Gupta as SP, Kolhapur
- Nilesh Tambe as SP, Buldhana
- Nitin Bagate as SP, Ratnagiri
- Ritu Khokar as SP, Dharashiv
