Mumbai: In a strategic move to enhance administrative efficiency and bolster governance across the state, the Maharashtra government has implemented a fresh round of transfers involving several IAS officers. The reshuffle affects crucial posts such as Collectors and CEOs of Zilla Parishads, signaling the state’s commitment to strengthening public service delivery.
Key Appointments and Transfers
Dr. Ashok Karanjkar (IAS: SCS: 2009) has been appointed as Member Secretary of the Rest of Maharashtra Statutory Development Board in Mumbai, a pivotal role that oversees developmental initiatives across multiple districts.
Dr. Sanjay Kolte (IAS: SCS: 2010), formerly the Collector of Bhandara district, will now take charge as Managing Director of the Shivshahi Punarvasan Project in Mumbai. This project is critical to urban renewal and redevelopment efforts in the state capital.
Sushil Khodwekar (IAS: RR: 2011), who was serving as Member Secretary for the Rest of Maharashtra Development Board, has been reassigned as Development Commissioner (Un-organised Labour), Mumbai, where he will focus on labor welfare and employment-related schemes for informal sector workers.
Taking over as Collector of Bhandara is Sawan Kumar (IAS: RR: 2019), replacing Dr. Kolte. This transfer marks a key leadership change in the district administration.

Emerging Leaders in the IAS Cadre
Among the younger IAS officers, Naman Goyal (IAS: RR: 2022) has been elevated to CEO of Zilla Parishad, Nandurbar. Previously, Goyal served as Project Officer, ITDP in Bhamragad and Assistant Collector in the Attapali Sub Division of Gadchiroli, gaining experience in tribal development and rural administration.
Two officers from the 2023 batch have also been repositioned to further their administrative exposure:
Dr. G.V.S. Pavandatta has moved from Assistant Collector, Desaiganj Sub Division in Gadchiroli to Assistant Collector, Igatpuri Sub Division in Nashik.
Ms Laghima Tiwari shifts from Assistant Collector, Ballarpur Sub Division in Chandrapur to Assistant Collector, Gondpimpri Sub Division, Chandrapur.

Dated August 12, this transfer order is part of Maharashtra’s ongoing administrative realignment to promote better coordination between state and local bodies. By redistributing responsibilities, the government aims to align developmental priorities with ground realities, especially in rural and tribal areas, while enhancing governance in urban projects.
