MCL Allocates Rs 9.97 Crore for Town Hall Project in Patnagarh, Strengthening Community Infrastructure in Odisha

Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a prominent subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has sanctioned a sum of Rs 9.97 crore for the construction of a new Town Hall at Patnagarh NAC in the Balangir district of Odisha. This initiative, under MCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to enhance civic infrastructure and support community development in the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the project was officially signed in a ceremony attended by Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. The signing was carried out by Sanjay Kumar Jha, Director (Technical) at MCL, and Gaurav Shivaji Isalwar, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate of Balangir.

Multipurpose Venue for Community Engagement

The upcoming Town Hall, strategically located near the Panchayat Samiti Office in Patnagarh, will provide a state-of-the-art facility designed to host up to 300 people. The venue will serve as a multipurpose space, accommodating community gatherings, cultural programs, and official events, thereby fostering social interaction and cultural engagement within the local population.

Strengthening Infrastructure and Promoting Social Welfare

Sanjay Kumar Jha, Director (Technical) at MCL, emphasized the importance of such projects in enhancing the community’s welfare and promoting inclusive growth. He noted, “The Town Hall will provide the people of Patnagarh with a modern space for community activities, thus contributing significantly to local development.”
