As the UT administration was facing shortage of senior officers, the ministry of home affairs (MHA), for the first time, issued posting orders of three officers from the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) cadre. It is a special cadre for union territories.
DANICS cadre officers, who are equivalent to Haryana civil services (HCS) and Punjab civil services’ (PCS), will be posted for the first time in the Chandigarh administration. In the past, only HCS and PCS officers were posted in UT for heading various departments or those who were promoted to IAS cadre from DANICS.
As per the orders issued by the MHA, 2009 batch D Karthikeyan, 2010 batch Akhil Kumar and 2010 batch Amit Kumar have been transferred from Delhi to Chandigarh. Copies of the orders have also been sent to the UT adviser. Sources said this was a major bureaucratic shift in the Chandigarh administration that has IAS officers on deputation from cadres of UT, Punjab and Haryana, besides HCS and PCS officers who come here on deputation.
Sources said the UT administration can give these officers charges of departments that are at present given to HCS and PCS officers, and soon there will be a reshuffling in the UT administration.
Recently, the UT administration had repatriated two HCS officers, while last year, it had rejected an HCS panel sent by the Haryana government. While rejecting it, the UT administration had communicated to the Haryana government to send a panel of officers with an experience of five years and more.
