The Ministry of Defence has appointed three new Independent (Non-Executive) Directors to the board of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI). The newly inducted members are Ms Aruna Sarap, Mr A.K. Chauhan, and Prof. (Retd.) V.T. Rema. Their tenure will be for one year, effective from April 18, 2025.
MIDHANI is a metals and metal alloys manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It operates as a Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of Department of Defence Production Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Mr. A.K. Chauhan, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 1984 batch, brings extensive experience in public service and corporate governance. A Don Bosco School alumnus, he pursued his undergraduate degree in Psychology (Hons.) from Aligarh Muslim University. He also holds an M.A. and M.Phil. from Delhi University, an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Sydney, and an Associate’s degree in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from IIM Indore.
Mr. Chauhan has previously served as the Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Nomination & Remuneration Committee at IRCON International Ltd. He is currently an advisor and consultant with Tamil Nadu Coke & Power Pvt. Ltd. and Green Gold Global Resources Pvt. Ltd.
Prof. V.T. Rema is a retired academician with a postgraduate degree in English and an M.Phil. from Calicut University, Kerala. She served at the Government College, Pattambi, from 1984 to 2014 and retired as Vice Principal. Prof. Rema has also been a member of the Kerala Social Welfare Board and currently serves as the State Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala.
Ms. Aruna Sarap, a graduate in Commerce from Karnataka University, Dharwad, and a Master’s degree holder from IMER, Belgaum, brings a diverse professional background. Her career spans roles at reputed organizations such as Titan, Citibank, Yellow Pages, and Triumphant Institute of Management Education. She has also taught HR subjects at RPD College and ITI Udyambag.
Ms. Sarap previously served on the Board of HLL Biotech Ltd. as an Independent Director. She is a member of the Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) and an advisor to the Ashraya Foundation, which works to uplift HIV-positive girls and women. A former NCC cadet, she won a gold medal in state-level firing and attended the BLC camp in Delhi in 1997.
