MIDHANI Hosts MSME Conclave to Boost Indigenisation in Defence Manufacturing

MIDHANI organized the MSME Conclave 2025 in Hyderabad to strengthen indigenisation and boost MSME collaboration in the defence sector.

In a move aligned with the Government of India’s flagship “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a premier Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, organised the MSME Conclave for Promotion of Indigenisation in Defence – 2025” at its Hyderabad premises on Thursday.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murty, Chairman and Managing Director of MIDHANI, who also served as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Murty underscored the crucial role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in indigenising critical defence metals, many of which are still imported. He called for the development of robust domestic capabilities to ensure long-term self-reliance and sustainability in the defence materials sector.

Addressing the conclave, T. Muthukumar, Director (Production & Marketing), reaffirmed MIDHANI’s steadfast commitment to supporting MSMEs and promoting innovation in defence manufacturing. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to enhance India’s strategic material and technological capabilities.

Smt. K. Madhubala, General Manager (Finance), also graced the occasion, reflecting MIDHANI’s commitment to inclusive vendor engagement. The event began with a welcome address by Subhdip Ghosh, AGM (I/c Purchase), who emphasized the importance of cooperative growth between MIDHANI and its MSME partners.

Around 50 MSME vendors participated in the conclave, which served as a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing, policy awareness, and collaboration in defence manufacturing.

Key sessions included:

  • Presentation on the SRIJAN Portal by K. Rajkumar (AGM, Materials), highlighting indigenisation opportunities for MSMEs.
  • Presentation on Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs by the Assistant Director, MSME, outlining government benefits and reservation norms.
  • Session on TReDS by RXIL (a SIDBI-NSE JV), focusing on digital financing solutions to improve MSME liquidity.

Special guests from the MSME Development Institute, Hyderabad, and RXIL provided valuable inputs to empower and enable MSMEs in the defence supply chain.

The conclave reaffirmed MIDHANI’s mission to foster innovation, promote indigenisation, and build a resilient and self-reliant defence manufacturing ecosystem through dynamic MSME partnerships.
