Bhopal: On the occasion of Engineering Day-2025, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of an Engineers Research and Training Institute in the state. The institute aims to train engineers in new technologies and methodologies, boosting efficiency and innovation in infrastructure development across Madhya Pradesh.

Engineering Day Celebrations at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center

The grand program held at Bhopal’s Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center marked the celebration of Engineering Day. During the event, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav launched several initiatives including the Public Works Survey App, Newsletter, and the Public Project Management System aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in government projects.

Honouring Excellence: Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Vishwakarma Awards Presented

As part of the celebrations, seven distinguished engineers were honoured with the Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award. Four contractors received the prestigious Vishwakarma Award for their outstanding contributions to infrastructure development. Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh also graced the occasion.

CM Dr. Mohan Yadav’s Inspirational Message: Engineers Are Like Lord Hanuman

Dr. Mohan Yadav drew a powerful analogy between engineers and Lord Hanuman, highlighting their strength, dedication, and unwavering spirit. He said, “Engineers are like Lord Hanuman. Our engineers have proven their excellence time and again, building marvels like the Chenab Bridge.” He credited Indian engineers for their pivotal role in nation-building, emphasizing their vital role in projects inspired by ancient architectural brilliance.

The CM further praised great historical figures like Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Jagadish Chandra Bose, acknowledging their pioneering contributions to engineering and science.

Focus on Innovation and Technology in Public Works

Dr. Yadav announced new technological initiatives including the Lokpath App and the Public Project Management System, designed to increase transparency and improve project monitoring. He stressed the importance of integrating technology with traditional craftsmanship, referencing the artisans who once suffered while building the Taj Mahal, and saying that today’s engineers possess the tools to create numerous such monuments.

Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh Highlights MP’s Infrastructure Leap

Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh stated that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly advancing in infrastructure development under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM Dr. Mohan Yadav. He praised the spirit of Sir Visvesvaraya and reaffirmed that engineers not only build bridges but shape the very future of the nation. Singh also highlighted the state’s work on groundwater structures, environmental protection, and the creation of over 500 Lok Kalyan Sarovars.

He reiterated the importance of modern training, announcing that the new Engineers Research and Training Institute will welcome engineers from across the country.

Expert Insights: Engineer-Writer Prashant Paul on India’s Engineering Legacy

Prominent engineer and writer Prashant Paul reflected on India’s historical engineering achievements, from the world’s largest Hindu temple in Cambodia to the first dam built during the Chola rule. He lamented that many Indians today are unaware of legendary figures like Varahamihir and King Bhoj, who made groundbreaking advances in astronomy, mechanics, and hydraulics centuries ago.

Paul emphasized the crucial role engineers will play in building the future of Madhya Pradesh, inspired by visionary leadership at the national and state levels.
