Mumbai: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed deep grief over the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, remembering his contribution to Indian cinema and his ability to portray social and real-life issues through his performances.
Patekar, a celebrated Hindi and Marathi actor, died in Goa on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to reports.
Speaking to the media at Mumbai airport, CM Mohan Yadav said Nana Patekar rose from a middle-class and struggling background to establish a distinctive identity in acting and brought recognition to Madhya Pradesh as well as India through his work.
Mohan Yadav Recalls Nana Patekar’s Acting Legacy
CM Yadav said Patekar faced several challenges during his life before achieving a prominent position in the world of acting.
He recalled the actor’s:

The Chief Minister said Patekar’s work was not limited to entertainment, as his performances often reflected social realities and important issues concerning society.

CM Calls Nana Patekar’s Death an Irreplaceable Loss
Mohan Yadav described Nana Patekar’s demise as an irreparable loss to the Indian film industry and the field of art.
He said very few artists possess the ability to portray characters with such depth and vitality. According to the Chief Minister, Patekar enriched Indian cinema through his acting skills and memorable roles.
CM Yadav offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed his condolences to Patekar’s bereaved family.
He said that the Madhya Pradesh government and he personally stand with the grieving family during this difficult time and prayed for them to receive strength to cope with the loss.
Nana Patekar’s Contribution to Indian Cinema
Nana Patekar was known for his intense screen presence and distinctive dialogue delivery and worked across Hindi and Marathi cinema during a career spanning several decades. He received three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.
CM Yadav recalled that Patekar’s films and performances had been widely discussed even during his student years and said his work continues to remain memorable among audiences.
Mohan Yadav’s Mumbai Visit Focuses on Investment
Apart from paying tribute to Nana Patekar, CM Mohan Yadav spoke about the purpose of his Mumbai visit, saying it is aimed at promoting investment and industrial development in Madhya Pradesh.
He said the state government is continuously encouraging investment and industrial opportunities across different sectors, with employment generation for young people remaining a key priority.
The Chief Minister said Madhya Pradesh has significant potential in sectors including:
- Energy
- Mining
- Industry
- Other emerging investment sectors
The government, he said, is working to create a favourable environment for investors and provide the necessary facilities and support for industrial projects.
CM to Meet Investors and Industry Representatives
During his Mumbai visit, CM Yadav said he would meet investors and representatives from the industry to discuss investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.
The meetings are aimed at informing investors about the state’s industrial potential and encouraging them to consider Madhya Pradesh as an investment destination.He said higher investment would help expand employment opportunities for young people and accelerate economic activity in the state.
