Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has emphasized the need to recognize tourism as an industry in Madhya Pradesh, calling for targeted initiatives that will facilitate entrepreneurs and innovators in expanding tourism activities across the state. Addressing the 8th meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Dr. Yadav highlighted the potential of the state’s diverse regions to offer enhanced tourism experiences, particularly in health and wellness tourism.
Promoting Health and Wellness Tourism
The Chief Minister urged the Tourism Department to collaborate closely with the Public Health and Medical Education Department as well as the AYUSH Department to promote wellness tourism. He stressed the importance of studying successful wellness tourism models from other states and creating division-wise action plans for Madhya Pradesh. Religious institutions and trusts were identified as potential partners to strengthen wellness tourism initiatives across the state.
Leveraging Culture, History, and Nature for Tourism
Dr. Yadav directed authorities to encourage films and media projects centered on Madhya Pradesh’s rich history and culture. He also called for efforts to showcase the state’s forests, wildlife, and biodiversity on global platforms, including international wildlife and nature-focused television channels. These initiatives aim to position Madhya Pradesh as a leading destination for both cultural and eco-tourism on the global map.
Infrastructure and Sectoral Developments
The board discussed several infrastructure projects and tourism initiatives, including the PM Shree Tourism Helicopter Services in key sectors such as Indore-Ujjain-Omkareshwar, Bhopal-Madhei-Pachmarhi, and Jabalpur-Bandhavgarh-Kanha. Additionally, the board reviewed ongoing preparations for Singhast-2028, rural tourism promotion schemes, adventure tourism, water-based tourism, investment opportunities in the tourism sector, and national and international promotion strategies for Madhya Pradesh tourism.
Focus on Innovation and Entrepreneurial Opportunities
Highlighting the state’s commitment to innovation, CM Yadav encouraged measures that make tourism accessible to entrepreneurs and innovators, enabling the expansion of facilities and services across urban and rural areas. This approach aims to foster sustainable development while creating employment opportunities in the tourism sector.
