Bhopal/Ujjain: In a major push to infrastructure and religious tourism, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Governor Mangubhai Patel performed the foundation stone laying ceremony for 16 development projects, including the construction of a grand Geeta Bhawan in Ujjain.
The state has received development projects worth over ₹664 crore, aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and preparing the city for upcoming Simhastha (Simhastha).
Major Infrastructure Push for Ujjain and Simhastha
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted that Ujjain is witnessing unprecedented development, especially with the upcoming Simhastha in focus. He announced that:
- Development works worth over ₹664 crore are being executed
- Additional provisions of ₹3,600 crore have been planned for 2026–27
- Projects include new roads, Vikram ROB, road widening, and CC road construction
The CM emphasized that these projects will significantly enhance urban infrastructure and pilgrimage facilities in the holy city.

Geeta Bhawan to Promote Cultural and Spiritual Learning
A major highlight of the event was the foundation stone laying of Geeta Bhawan, to be constructed at a cost of over ₹77 crore. After Indore and Jabalpur, Ujjain will now have a grand Geeta Bhawan dedicated to promoting Indian culture, philosophy, and spiritual knowledge.
Governor Mangubhai Patel described the project as a “symbol of cultural renaissance”, adding that it will:
- Promote Sanatan values and Indian knowledge traditions
- Provide a platform for youth, researchers, and citizens
- Strengthen the cultural identity of the region
Boost to Connectivity and National Highways
The Chief Minister also highlighted major connectivity projects supported by Narendra Modi:
- An 8-lane super express highway from Ujjain to Badnawar
- Direct connectivity to Delhi via the Garoth Highway
- A massive ₹3,839 crore National Highway project connecting Dwarka to Assam near the China border
This new highway will also connect Somnath to Mahakaleshwar Temple, boosting religious tourism and regional connectivity.

Focus on Farmers and Welfare Initiatives
Declaring 2026 as the “Farmer Welfare Year,” CM Yadav outlined several initiatives aimed at improving farmers’ income and rural economy:
- 25% increase in milk production in the past year
- Farmers receiving ₹5–₹8 more per litre for milk
- Promotion of animal husbandry and dairy development
Additionally, several welfare measures for students and youth were highlighted:
- Free bicycles, uniforms, and books for school students
- Scooters for toppers and laptops for meritorious students
- Launch of a new scheme providing free milk packets in schools
Strengthening Urban and Rural Development
The government is also focusing on:
- Development of Geeta Bhawans in urban areas
- Creation of model villages and Vrindavan Gram initiatives
- Expansion of educational institutions like Sandipani schools and PM Excellence Colleges
These initiatives aim to ensure balanced development across urban and rural Madhya Pradesh.
A Boost to Religious Tourism and Local Economy
Governor Mangubhai Patel stated that these development projects will significantly enhance religious tourism in Ujjain, attracting more pilgrims and visitors. This, in turn, will:
- Boost local businesses and trade
- Strengthen the regional economy
- Create new employment opportunities

A Vision for Holistic Development
The large-scale development push in Ujjain reflects the state government’s commitment to infrastructure growth, cultural revival, and economic development. With a strong focus on Simhastha preparations and tourism, Ujjain is set to emerge as a major spiritual and infrastructural hub in India.
