Moradabad’s District Magistrate, Mr. Anuj Singh, has created a whirl in the bureaucratic circle through his strict zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Having served in several roles, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Banda and Bijnor, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Gorakhpur, and Vice Chairman of Gorakhpur Development Authority, the 2013 batch IAS officer, has been a recurring personality in the new headlines on account of his decisive action against corruption within his administration.
Officer Singh’s latest move involved suspending Mr. Sachin Sharma, a stenographer working under the SDM of Thakurdwara, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a farmer. In addition to this suspension, the seasoned IAS officer removed SDM Mani Arora from his position. Ms. Preeti Singh, the First Additional Municipal Magistrate, has been appointed as the new SDM of Thakurdwara in Officer Arora’s place.
The DM’s trenchant actions highlight his commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency in his administrative duties and his decision to take immediate corrective measures underscores his dedication to eradicating corruption and ensuring that his administration upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Mr. Singh is a native of Chapra in Bihar, and he holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi. Prior to his assignment in Moradabad, Officer Singh served as the DM of Sitapur. His career includes important roles in Banda and Bijnor as SDM, as well as high-profile positions in Gorakhpur and Hapur.
