Bhopal: In a significant move aimed at public welfare, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav chaired the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat, approving a series of impactful decisions covering agriculture, social harmony, cultural identity, and infrastructure development. The announcements outline a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s growth, from crop procurement policies to international cultural events.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrated as Statewide Campaign
The cabinet has decided to mark Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti not as a one-day event but as a statewide campaign from 8th to 14th April. Each district will have designated ministers overseeing the programs until 6 PM daily, with the state-level main event scheduled in Bhind. The government aims to promote Ambedkar’s principles of social justice, equality, and constitutional values across the population.
Sant Ravidas Jayanti Declared “Social Harmony Year”
In another initiative promoting social unity, Sant Ravidas Jayanti will be observed not for a single day but as the “Social Harmony Year” until 31st March 2027. Programs encouraging social cohesion, equality, and goodwill will be held across the state, with a detailed action plan to be issued soon.

Farmers Get Relief: Wheat Procurement Starts Early
The cabinet announced that wheat procurement will begin from 9th April instead of 10th April, benefiting farmers immediately. Priority will be given to small and marginal farmers, ensuring their registered wheat is purchased first.
- Procurement Limit: 78 lakh metric tons (request made to the central government for increase)
- Registered Farmers: 19.04 lakh (3.5 lakh more than last year)
- Support Price: ₹2,625 per quintal, including ₹40 per quintal state bonus
- Procurement Centers: 3,627, with adequate availability of gunny bags
Additionally, the government will also procure chana, masoor, and mustard, providing stability to pulses and oilseed farmers.
Infrastructure Boost: New Road Projects Approved
To strengthen state connectivity, the cabinet approved several key road projects:
- Itarsi-Betul Section: 22 km Tiger Corridor, ₹758 crore
- Niwari-Jhansi Bypass: 15 km
- Orchha-Tighiyala Road Project: ₹631 crore total
The government thanked Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for supporting these projects.
Ujjain Becomes Global Center for Timekeeping
Ujjain hosted the international conference “Mahakal: The Master of Time” on 3rd April, with experts from IIT, ISRO, and other scientific institutions. The city now gains recognition as a global center for timekeeping.
- A new Ujjain Science Center was inaugurated to promote research and scientific thinking.
- The Tropic of Cancer reference point is now established at Domla, 32 km from Ujjain, with an astronomical study facility built by a trust.
Cultural and Scientific Initiatives
- Vikramaditya Natya: Staged in Varanasi, with UP CM Yogi Adityanath attending.
- Vikramaditya Vedic Clocks: Installed at Ujjain and Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
- MPU Cooperation Summit: Promoted state-specific products and exports; first MoU signed between Kashi Vishwanath Special Area Authority and Mahakal Temple Management Committee.
Agriculture Development: Lift Irrigation Project
The cabinet approved the Gandhi Sagar Dam Lift Irrigation Project in Mandsaur district:
- Budget: ₹88.41 crore
- Land: 3,500 hectares irrigated
- Beneficiaries: 1,358 families across 120 villages
- Current irrigation coverage in the district: 77%
Bhopal Financial Training & Research Institute
A new Financial Training and Research Institute (FTRI) will be established in Bhopal by merging seven existing schools. The institute will use RCPV Narona Administrative Academy infrastructure to train officials and employees in financial management and become a major center for research and training nationwide.
Singhstha 2028 Preparations in Full Swing
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized completing all construction and infrastructure works for Singhstha 2028 before Diwali 2027, including:
- ₹2,985 crore worth of construction works approved
- Training for officials and staff for crowd management and other arrangements
- Third-party audits for quality assurance
Ujjain Airport: ₹590 crore sanctioned for land acquisition to speed up construction in preparation for Singhstha 2028.
