Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is all set for the upcoming wheat procurement season, with state authorities ensuring smooth operations for farmers. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, assuring timely purchases at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Wheat Procurement Dates and MSP

Procurement in Madhya Pradesh will start on April 10, 2026, in the Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Narmadapuram divisions, while other divisions will begin on April 15, 2026.

Focus on Small Farmers First

The Chief Minister instructed authorities to prioritize small farmers during procurement, followed by medium and large farmers. All registered farmers on the procurement portal will have their wheat purchased in phased slots, minimizing inconvenience.

Adequate Supplies of Gunny Bags and Facilities

To ensure smooth operations:

  • No shortage of gunny bags has been reported, with the state in constant coordination with the Central Government and Jute Commissioner.
  • All procurement centers will be equipped with essential facilities such as electricity, drinking water, seating, shade, toilets, and parking.
  • Measures will be in place to avoid long queues and ensure timely weighing of wheat.

Inspection of Weighing Centers

Before the procurement begins, all weighing centers will be thoroughly inspected. Control rooms will be set up at both state and mandi levels to monitor operations and assist farmers in case of any issues.

Record Registration by Farmers

For the procurement year 2026-27, over 19 lakh farmers have registered in Madhya Pradesh. The government has set up 3,627 procurement centers, targeting an estimated purchase of 78 lakh metric tons of wheat.

This shows a significant increase compared to last year, when 15.44 lakh farmers participated in wheat procurement.

Modernization and Transparency

The Chief Minister highlighted plans to:

  • Ensure prompt payment to farmers’ accounts after procurement.
  • Upgrade mandi infrastructure to world-class standards.
  • Maintain transparency and efficiency throughout the wheat procurement process.

Slot Booking Starts April 7

Farmers in divisions starting procurement from April 10 can begin slot booking from April 7, 2026. This phased approach ensures orderly wheat collection and prevents overcrowding at procurement centers.

Madhya Pradesh is taking comprehensive measures to make wheat procurement smooth, transparent, and farmer-friendly, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the agricultural community.
