Indore: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹85 crore in Mahugao, Mahu Assembly constituency, Indore district on Sunday. The event marked the unveiling of multiple initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, tourism, health, and education in the region.
As part of the program, Dr. Yadav unveiled a statue of Rashtriya Rishi Nanaji Deshmukh and inaugurated the Nanaji Deshmukh Tourist Site, developed at a cost of ₹4.50 crore. Additionally, the Sandeepani Government Model Higher Secondary School, Mahu, built at ₹38 crore, was inaugurated, providing modern educational facilities to local students. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Chandrasekhar Azad Sarovar Park (Kakadpura Lake) and its ghats, constructed at a cost of ₹1 crore.
Mahugao to Become Municipal Council; 100-Bed Hospital Announced
Speaking at the event, CM Mohan Yadav emphasized Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to balanced development across urban and rural areas to achieve self-reliance. He announced the establishment of a 100-bed hospital in Mahugao to enhance healthcare services in the region.
In a significant administrative move, Mahugao will be elevated to a municipal council, reflecting the state government’s focus on providing local governance and development opportunities directly to citizens.
The Chief Minister also highlighted social welfare initiatives, including honoring tribal leader Tantya Mama, promoting the Bagoria festival as a national event, and implementing policies aimed at empowering women and farmers.

Paying Tribute to Rashtriya Rishi Nanaji Deshmukh
Dr. Yadav paid homage to Nanaji Deshmukh, describing him as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to rural development, education, and self-reliance. He said, “Nanaji believed that India’s soul resides in villages. Only when villages are strong, the country can truly progress. His development model continues to inspire the entire nation.”
Mahu Region: Historical, Spiritual, and Industrial Significance
The Chief Minister highlighted Mahu’s unique historical, spiritual, and industrial significance. He noted that the area is the birthplace of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and is near Janapav hill, associated with Lord Parshuram. Mahu is also linked to freedom fighter Tantya Mama, making it culturally and historically important.
He added that the region is witnessing rapid industrial growth, with new schools, colleges, and industries emerging. Citizens were praised for their active participation in development efforts.
Initiatives for Women, Children, and Farmers
CM Mohan Yadav announced several welfare measures during the event:
- Implementation of 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and Assembly seats by 2029.
- Increase in Laadli Bahna scheme benefits to ₹1,500 per beneficiary.
- School milk program for classes 1 to 8 to improve nutrition and support local dairy farmers.
- Financial assistance of up to ₹12,000 for farmers through combined state and central support.
- Incentive of ₹25,000 for citizens who transport road accident victims to hospitals.
Infrastructure and Regional Development
The Chief Minister emphasized infrastructure development, including the acceleration of projects like the Mahu-Khandwa rail line, aiming to enhance connectivity and regional growth.
He concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to comprehensive development in social welfare, healthcare, education, and agriculture, ensuring benefits reach every section of society.
