Ujjain: In a significant development regarding the upcoming Simhastha 2028, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a high-level meeting with representatives from the Farmers’ Association, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials, local representatives of Ujjain, and district administration. After detailed discussions on the arrangements for the event, CM Yadav decided to cancel the Simhastha land pooling initiative, ensuring the interests of farmers are protected while planning a grand and world-class festival.
Meeting Focused on Comprehensive Planning for Simhastha 2028
During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held on the preparations and arrangements for Simhastha 2028. CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that the festival should be divine, grand, and internationally recognized. Special attention will be paid to the welfare of saints, farmers, and other stakeholders involved in the event. Following these discussions, the Chief Minister instructed the Urban Administration and Development Department and Ujjain district administration to implement the decisions accordingly.

The Farmers’ Association expressed their gratitude and welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to cancel the land pooling.
Simhastha 2028: Dates and Key Details
The Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain is scheduled to begin on March 27, 2028, and continue until May 27, 2028, spanning a total of two months. During this period, the festival will witness:
- Three Shahi Snan (Royal Bathing Ceremonies) between April 9 and May 8, 2028
- Seven Parva Snans for devotees
Approximately 14 crore devotees are expected to visit Ujjain and take a holy dip in the Shipra River, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the country.
Preparations for a Grand and Extended Festival
Unlike the last Simhastha held in 2016, which lasted only one month, the 2028 event will be extended to two months, allowing devotees more time for holy baths and participation in rituals. The state government and district administration have already begun preparations to accommodate the large influx of pilgrims, ensuring infrastructure, safety, and facilities are efficiently managed.
