Bhopal: In a notable administrative shift, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Madhya Pradesh now has 10 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers posted, marking the first time that no serving Indian Police Service (IPS) officer is currently part of the setup.
The development follows the latest IAS transfer list issued on Thursday, which also led to the induction of two new IAS officers and is expected to trigger a fresh redistribution of work within the Secretariat, officials said.
No Serving IPS Officer, Retired Officer Posted as OSD
While no serving IPS officer is presently posted in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, retired IPS officer Rajesh Hingankar continues to serve as Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
This marks a significant departure from past administrative arrangements where IPS officers were typically part of the CM Secretariat, especially for handling law and order-related coordination.
10 IAS Officers Posted, Including Senior-Level Officials
The strength of IAS officers in the CM Secretariat has now risen to 10. The team includes senior bureaucrats across various ranks, ensuring a wide administrative coverage.
Along with Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, three officers are posted at the secretary level:
- Alok Singh
- Kaushalendra Vikram Singh
- Ilayaraja T
At th additional secretary level, the Secretariat includes:
- Chandramauli Shukla
- Chandra Shekhar Walimbe
- Arun Parmar
- Arvind Dubey
Further, Sudhir Kochar and Sandeep Kerketta have been posted as deputy secretaries.
In addition to serving officers, retired IAS officers Gopal Daad and Ajatshatru Shrivastava have also been assigned roles in the Secretariat.
Fresh Work Distribution Likely After New Inductions
Officials indicated that with the addition of two new IAS officers, responsibilities within the Chief Minister’s Secretariat will be redistributed to streamline functioning and improve administrative efficiency.
The reshuffle is expected to optimize workload distribution among officers and align responsibilities with evolving governance priorities.
More Transfers Likely Across Key Departments
Sources suggest that another round of IAS transfers may be issued in the coming days, potentially impacting officers posted in the Mantralaya and those heading various departments.
Key departments such as Home, Commercial Tax, and Revenue may witness changes.
Senior-Level Changes on the Cards
Among the possible changes:
- Additional Chief Secretary Sheo Shekhar Shukla, who is currently on extended leave, may be replaced by another officer.
- Amit Rathore, who has completed around two years as Principal Secretary, Commercial Tax, may be transferred.
- Vivek Porwal, Principal Secretary, Revenue, is also likely to be shifted.
In addition, divisional-level changes are anticipated, with Bhopal Commissioner Sanveej Singh and Shahdol Commissioner Surbhi Gupta among those who may be reassigned.
Administrative Realignment Underway
The developments indicate a broader administrative realignment within the Madhya Pradesh government, with a focus on restructuring key positions and enhancing governance efficiency.
The absence of a serving IPS officer in the CM Secretariat, combined with the increased IAS presence, marks a significant shift in bureaucratic composition and could influence decision-making dynamics going forward.
