Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday presented a comprehensive two-year report card of his government, highlighting achievements in law and order, anti-Naxal operations, irrigation projects, and upcoming development plans for Ujjain ahead of the 2028 Kumbh Mela. The report card was shared during a press briefing in Bhopal, attended by BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal and cabinet members.
Breaking the Back of Naxalism
CM Yadav underlined the state’s major successes in combating Naxal activities, particularly in Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori districts. “Naxalism posed a serious challenge, but our police force, with support from local communities, has successfully dismantled major Naxal networks,” he said. Highlighting operations in which Naxals surrendered, the CM added that the government is on track to achieve the Union Home Ministry’s target of eradicating Naxalism by March 2026.

Ujjain to Get Haridwar-Like Religious City
Looking ahead to the 2028 Kumbh Mela, CM Yadav announced plans to develop Ujjain into a city akin to Haridwar. Permanent ashrams will be constructed for saints, while land will be allotted to the Mahamandaleshwar of 13 Akharas. “A special ₹800 crore project is being launched to facilitate bathing in the Shipra River for saints and devotees,” he added. The initiative aims to enhance religious tourism and provide world-class facilities to pilgrims.
River-Linking Projects to Boost Water Security
The CM also spoke about the ongoing “Nadi Jodo” (River-Linking) initiative, aimed at expanding irrigation and ensuring sustainable water supply. “The Ken-Betwa Link Project is advancing, and efforts are underway to connect Chambal, Parvati, and Kali Sindh rivers. This project, once thought impossible, is now delivering water benefits to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra,” CM Yadav explained. Collaborative projects with neighboring states are also improving water availability and recharge capacity.
Future Roadmap
CM Yadav outlined his administration’s future vision, focusing on infrastructure development, religious tourism, and sustainable water management. The initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving public services, boosting the state economy, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for citizens, saints, and pilgrims.
The Madhya Pradesh government, led by CM Mohan Yadav, has prioritized law enforcement, anti-Naxal operations, irrigation expansion, and religious tourism over the past two years. The administration has made notable strides in rural development, public safety, and infrastructure, aiming to enhance quality of life for residents and prepare Ujjain for the grand 2028 Kumbh Mela.
