Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that the state has now become India’s food basket and is committed to emerging as a leader in agriculture, food processing, and pulse production. Addressing the All India Dal Mill Association’s Grain-X India exhibition in Indore, Dr. Yadav highlighted that the government is preparing a new development model that brings together farmers, industries, and trade.
The CM assured that the state government is ready to provide support at every level – from land allocation to machinery – enabling farmers and entrepreneurs to expand their operations. As part of the “Kisan Kalyan Varsh” initiative, the government aims to double farmers’ income. He also announced the removal of mandi tax on tur dal, which will benefit dal mills, while similar relief is being considered for urad and masoor dal.
Focus on Pulses and Protein-Rich Crops
Dr. Yadav highlighted the nutritional significance of pulses like moong, masoor, and tur in Indian diets. He pointed out that India remains the world’s largest producer and consumer of pulses, which are a primary source of protein in a predominantly vegetarian culture. The government is also promoting dairy and pulse crop production to increase milk output from 9% to 20%. Additionally, a bonus scheme for urad and masoor cultivation is under preparation to incentivize farmers.
The CM stressed that the state’s connectivity through roads, rail, and air provides strategic advantages for trade and industrial expansion. Efforts are also underway to develop air cargo infrastructure to support businesses. A workshop for entrepreneurs, machine manufacturers, exporters, traders, and farmers involved in the dal sector will soon be held in Bhopal.

Promoting Industrial Growth and Investment
Dr. Yadav invited industrialists from other states to invest in Madhya Pradesh, assuring them of comprehensive support, including land, machinery, tax incentives, electricity, and water. MSMEs and small-scale industries are being promoted through regional industry conclaves and roadshows in other states.
Over ₹5,500 crore has been directly transferred to entrepreneurs under industrial incentive schemes. The state also provides wage support of ₹5,000 per worker per month for ten years for employment-generating industries. Simplified labor laws and timely settlement of dues, such as at Indore’s Hukamchand Mill, further reinforce the government’s pro-business stance.
Strengthening Food Processing and Dal Industry
The government is expanding food processing activities to ensure fair prices for farmers and create new avenues for entrepreneurs. Plans include the development of food parks and grain markets in districts across the state. Dr. Yadav stressed that Madhya Pradesh ranks second in food grain production in India and contributes around 39% to the state’s agricultural GDP, with a growth rate of approximately 16%. Wheat, chickpea, masoor, and oilseeds are key crops where the state leads nationally.
CM Inaugurates Grain-X India Exhibition
Dr. Yadav inaugurated the three-day Grain-X India exhibition, showcasing modern machinery for dal milling, spice processing, flour mills, rice mills, and other cutting-edge technologies. Exhibitors included companies from Canada, Turkey, Taiwan, Spain, the UK, China, and across India.
Government Focus on Inclusive Growth
Dr. Yadav reiterated that the state government’s policies under “Kisan Kalyan Varsh” and industrial initiatives aim to create employment, strengthen farmer income, and promote sustainable economic growth. With robust agriculture, food processing, and industrial development, Madhya Pradesh is positioned as a model state for inclusive prosperity.
