Bhopal: After decades of operating in losses, the Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation (MPEDC) has achieved a historic milestone by reporting a profit for the first time since its establishment in 1982. This marks 44 years since its inception, during which the corporation had never registered a gain.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his delight over the achievement and congratulated the corporation, highlighting its role in positioning Madhya Pradesh as a model state in the renewable energy sector.
CUSUM Schemes Boost Revenue and Farmer Participation
The landmark profit is largely attributed to the successful implementation of the CUSUM schemes, which have encouraged significant participation from farmers across the state. According to the state’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Rakesh Shukla, over the past three years, the CUSUM programs have contributed ₹41 crore to the corporation’s income.
The government holds a 20% share of the corporation’s profits, with 10% of this share — amounting to ₹4.39 crore — handed over to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav as a dividend check. The remaining 10% will be transferred in the near future.
