Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Saturday reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). Addressing the media at Samanvay Bhavan, Dr. Yadav emphasized that his government is working inclusively for the betterment of all sections of society under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Reservation Based on Ground Realities, Not Empty Promises
Speaking on the pending legal and administrative issues surrounding OBC reservations, Dr. Yadav said, “The issue remained stuck in the courts because of earlier decisions made without a proper survey or groundwork. The current government will introduce a reservation bill backed by factual data and a robust survey.”
The Chief Minister directed officials to bring a new bill in the Assembly, ensuring that the OBC reservation is aligned with constitutional principles and judicial clarity.

Addressing Historical Gaps in Reservation
CM Yadav assured that the 14% reservation that was previously provided would be reviewed and extended properly, ensuring no eligible group is left out. “Injustice has been done to those left behind. We are acting to correct these oversights,” he said.
In addition to the OBCs, Dr. Yadav also spoke of the 10% reservation for the economically weaker sections (EWS) of the general category, reinforcing the government’s approach of balancing social justice with economic equity.
Promotion and Representation: A Holistic Approach
The Chief Minister also noted that long-pending promotion cases of government officers and employees have been addressed by his administration. “We are not just making announcements—we are implementing them,” Dr. Yadav stated.
Caste Census to Provide Empirical Basis
Highlighting another major policy initiative, the CM said that a caste census is being initiated in Madhya Pradesh. “This is a historic step towards inclusive development, and we are moving forward on this front under the visionary leadership of PM Modi,” he said. The caste census is expected to provide an empirical foundation for future welfare and reservation policies.
Support for Affected Students
Addressing concerns of students who may have missed opportunities due to the court’s stay on earlier reservation policies, Dr. Yadav expressed hope that they would be accommodated in future provisions. “We are working to ensure that no deserving student is left behind because of administrative or legal delays,” he said.
