Bhopal: In a significant push toward clean energy and farmer welfare, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed all concerned departments to ensure full cooperation and coordination for the installation of solar pumps under the Kusum Scheme in Madhya Pradesh. The directive was issued during a detailed review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department held at Samatva Bhawan, the Chief Minister’s residence.
CM Stresses Coordination Among Departments to Meet Solar Pump Targets
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of coordination between the Renewable Energy Department and other implementing agencies to expedite the installation process. The goal is to provide direct benefits to farmers while achieving renewable energy milestones.
New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, along with other senior officials, attended the session.
Massive Rollout Plan: 10 Lakh Solar Pumps by Next Year
It was informed in the review that the government aims to install 10 lakh solar-powered pumps across the state by next year. The campaign, which started this year, is being implemented in phased manner.
The installation of solar pumps is expected to:
- Reduce farmers’ dependence on traditional electricity sources
- Lower electricity costs for irrigation
- Promote clean and sustainable farming practices
- Inspire other farmers to adopt solar energy
Awareness Campaigns to Be Launched Among Farmers
The Chief Minister emphasized that the success of the initiative depends not just on infrastructure but also on farmer awareness. Hence, targeted campaigns will be launched to educate and motivate farmers to adopt solar irrigation solutions.
Dr. Yadav also hinted at future possibilities where farmers may sell surplus energy back to the grid, further enhancing their income potential.
