Bhubaneswar, Odisha: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a leading Government of India enterprise, has approved a 25-year Mining Development & Operation (MDO) contract for its Pottangi Bauxite Mines and Overland Conveyor Corridor (OLCC). The contract has been awarded to M/s. Dilip Buildcon Limited, the lowest bidder (L-1), with a Base Mining Charge of Rs. 423 per ton, ensuring long-term security of raw material supply for NALCO’s aluminium operations.
Long-Term Contract Secures Bauxite Supply
The NALCO Board, in a meeting held on 9 December 2025, approved the proposal to award the MDO contract to Dilip Buildcon. The 25-year tenure of the agreement is designed to provide sustained access to bauxite, a key raw material for NALCO’s aluminium production, while also enabling the company to plan its long-term operations and production efficiently.
Scope of the Project
The contract includes not only the mining operations but also the construction of the Overland Conveyor Corridor (OLCC) and other associated facilities required for seamless bauxite transport. This move is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and ensure timely supply to NALCO’s plants.
Financial and Strategic Details
The Base Mining Charge has been fixed at Rs. 423 per ton, reflecting a competitive and transparent bidding process. By awarding the contract to the L-1 bidder, NALCO ensures cost-effective mining operations while maintaining high standards of project execution over the next quarter-century.
