New Delhi: In a continued effort to prioritize safety and operational excellence, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) unveiled a series of key upgrades during its Annual Mines Safety Fortnight 2025 at its Angul operations in Odisha. The event, marked by a visit from NALCO’s top leadership, showcased the company’s commitment to safe and sustainable mining practices.
Release of Updated Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and Codes of Practice (CoPs) for Utkal D & E Coal Mines
During the visit, Mr. B.P. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NALCO, along with Mr. P.K. Sharma, Director (Production), and Dr. T.K. Pattanayak, Director (Human Resources), released the updated Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) and Codes of Practice (CoPs) for the Utkal D & E Coal Mines. These revised documents are part of NALCO’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety standards, strengthen regulatory compliance, and improve operational discipline in the mining sector.
The updated SoPs and CoPs will provide clearer guidelines on operational protocols, focusing on improving safety and mitigating risks associated with mining operations. This is in line with NALCO’s vision of continuously improving safety measures and reducing operational hazards, ensuring both the well-being of its workforce and adherence to industry standards.
Renovation of First Aid Centre at Captive Power Plant
As part of the safety upgrades, NALCO also inaugurated a renovated First Aid Centre at its Captive Power Plant in Angul. The newly renovated facility is equipped with enhanced emergency medical response capabilities, offering state-of-the-art medical care for workers in the event of an accident or emergency. The First Aid Centre now has updated equipment and a fully equipped medical team, significantly improving the company’s ability to respond to any medical emergencies in real-time.
The addition of the upgraded First Aid Centre further underscores NALCO’s unwavering commitment to fostering a safety-first culture across its operations.
