National Startup Day: Uttarakhand Awarded ‘Leader’ Status in Startup India Ranking

Dehradun: Uttarakhand has achieved a major milestone in its economic and innovation journey by being recognised as a ‘Leader’ in the States’ Startup Ecosystem Ranking (5th Edition) released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The recognition reflects the state’s consistent efforts to build a robust, inclusive, and innovation-driven startup ecosystem, placing Uttarakhand among the top-performing states in the country.

Certificate of Appreciation Presented on National Startup Day

For this significant achievement, a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Industries Department, Government of Uttarakhand on the occasion of National Startup Day. The honour underscores the state’s success in implementing startup-friendly policies and nurturing entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.

The recognition also highlights Uttarakhand’s effective linkage of innovation, entrepreneurship, investment promotion, and youth empowerment, particularly through self-employment opportunities created under the state’s startup policy.

Startup Policy Driving Innovation and Employment

According to officials, Uttarakhand’s startup ecosystem has been strengthened through favourable government policies, simplified regulatory processes, and a supportive institutional framework. These initiatives have enabled young entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into viable enterprises.

The state’s approach has successfully connected innovation with employment generation, encouraging startups across sectors and helping youth move toward self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Hails Collective Effort

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the honour as a moment of pride for the state and credited the achievement to collective efforts.

“This honour is a matter of pride for Uttarakhand. Our government has developed favourable policies, simple processes and a strong ecosystem to promote startups. The youth of the state have an incredible potential for innovation, and the government is providing them support at every level. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all entrepreneurs, startups and officials of the state,” the Chief Minister said.

Strengthening Youth Entrepreneurship and Self-Reliance

The recognition further strengthens the state government’s resolve to promote youth-led entrepreneurship, innovation-driven growth, and investment inflows. Officials said that continued focus on startups will play a key role in economic diversification, job creation, and regional development in Uttarakhand.
