Nagpur: NBCC (India) Ltd, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), has signed a formal agreement with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) for the integrated development of the Naveen Nagpur Project, a sprawling township spread across approximately 1,710 acres (692 hectares).
This project represents one of the largest planned urban development initiatives in the region, with its first phase valued at Rs 2,966 crore. The agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 8 September 2025, through which NBCC was appointed as the Executing and Implementing Agency as well as the Project Management Consultant (PMC).

Comprehensive Urban Township with Modern Infrastructure
The Naveen Nagpur Project aims to create a modern, sustainable, and future-ready urban ecosystem, encompassing –
- Residential, commercial, and institutional spaces
- Social infrastructure and amenities
- Advanced mobility systems
- Environmentally conscious urban planning
NBCC will lead all critical aspects, including preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR), financial feasibility studies, architectural and engineering designs, tendering processes, and construction management, ensuring the delivery of world-class infrastructure. The project emphasizes quality, safety, sustainability, and inclusivity, adhering strictly to statutory norms and green development principles.
Empowered Committee to Ensure Smooth Execution
To facilitate timely approvals and effective monitoring, an Empowered Committee will be formed under the Chairmanship of the Metropolitan Commissioner, NMRDA. The committee, comprising senior representatives from both NBCC and NMRDA, will be responsible for –
- Examining and approving project plans
- Reviewing deviations and resolving issues
- Monitoring timelines and overall project performance
Findings from the committee will be periodically reported to the Steering Committee of the Government of Maharashtra.
A Landmark Step for Nagpur’s Urban Growth
The agreement is a significant step toward shaping a transformative urban landscape for Nagpur. The project is expected to contribute meaningfully to the city’s long-term growth by introducing advanced infrastructure, improved mobility, modern urban amenities, and a focus on environmental stewardship.
NBCC’s extensive experience in executing large-scale government infrastructure projects across India and abroad will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and efficient delivery. The construction is planned to be completed within three years, with potential extensions up to five years, subject to approval by the Empowered Committee.
