The Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR), a digital platform aimed at fostering collaboration within India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, has recorded a total of 1,97,932 entities registered under the ‘startup’ category as of June 30, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry informed the Rajya Sabha.
The information was provided by Minister of State Jitin Prasada in a written reply, highlighting BHASKAR’s role in connecting startups with key stakeholders such as incubators, accelerators, educational institutions, and government agencies.
Currently in its pilot phase, BHASKAR is testing core features such as peer-to-peer interaction, partnership facilitation, generation of unique personalized stakeholder IDs, and microsite integration for the implementation of various Startup India schemes.
To enhance its reach and functionality, the government has undertaken extensive outreach efforts, including awareness drives, workshops, stakeholder engagement sessions, and promotions through social media. These efforts are being carried out in collaboration with State Startup Nodal Agencies and ecosystem partners across India.
According to state-wise data, Maharashtra leads with 33,845 registered startups, followed by Delhi (18,972), Karnataka (20,004), Uttar Pradesh (19,382), and Gujarat (17,370). Other notable contributors include Tamil Nadu (13,409), Telangana (10,433), and Haryana (10,082).
Smaller states and Union Territories have also begun participating actively, with Andaman & Nicobar Islands registering 97 startups, Ladakh 25, and Lakshadweep 5.
The BHASKAR platform is being developed as part of the government’s broader push to streamline startup support infrastructure and ensure that innovation-driven enterprises get the necessary resources to scale and succeed, aligning with the Startup India mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
