New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Sasanka Sarmah (IRPS, 2002 batch) as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), Shillong, under the Ministry of Power.
According to the official notification, Sarmah will assume the responsibilities of CVO at the level of Joint Secretary, with an initial tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

As the Chief Vigilance Officer, Sasanka Sarmah will be responsible for overseeing the vigilance and integrity mechanisms within NEEPCO. The role entails ensuring compliance with government regulations, promoting transparency in decision-making processes, monitoring risk areas for potential fraud or corruption, and facilitating preventive vigilance strategies. The CVO also acts as a key advisor to the management in matters related to ethical governance, procedural compliance, and internal audits.
