NFL Board Strengthened with Appointment of 2 Non-official Independent Directors – Know More About Them

New Delhi: The Department of Fertilizers, under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, has announced the appointment of Prof. Rabi Ranjan Sen and former IAS Jyoti Bhramar Tubid as Additional Directors (Non-official Independent Directors) on the Board of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL). Their appointments are effective from May 5, 2025, for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

Diverse Expertise to Strengthen NFL’s Board

The appointment of Prof. Sen and Shri Tubid is expected to bring a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the board of NFL, one of India’s leading public sector fertilizer companies.

Prof. Rabi Ranjan Sen: A Scholar with Governance Experience

Prof. Rabi Ranjan Sen, aged 51, is currently serving as the Head of the Department of History at Katwa College, West Bengal. A respected academic, Prof. Sen completed his M.Phil in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. His experience includes a prior tenure as an Independent Director at Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), where he contributed to strategic governance and policy oversight.

Known for his scholarly insight and commitment to education, Prof. Sen is expected to bring a thoughtful, research-driven perspective to NFL’s board, with an emphasis on long-term planning and institutional integrity.

Jyoti Bhramar Tubid: Veteran Bureaucrat and Strategic Advisor

Jyoti Bhramar Tubid, 66, is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1983 batch, who voluntarily retired in 2014. During his distinguished career in the Jharkhand state administration, he held several key positions, including Home Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, and Secretary in the Departments of Excise & Prohibition, and Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare.

In addition to his administrative career, Tubid has served as a Board Member of XLRI, Jamshedpur, and held directorship roles in various government companies, showcasing his strategic insight and leadership in both public governance and academic institutions.

National Fertilizers Limited: Strengthening Governance and Oversight

The inclusion of experienced individuals like Prof. Sen and Tubid as independent directors is aligned with the government’s commitment to enhancing corporate governance standards in public sector enterprises. Their presence on the board is expected to bolster strategic oversight, transparency, and accountability at NFL, which plays a pivotal role in ensuring fertilizer availability for the country’s agricultural sector.
