New Delhi: Marking a golden milestone in India’s hydropower journey, Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, released a ₹50 commemorative coin to celebrate NHPC Golden Jubilee, India’s premier hydropower company under the Ministry of Power. The event was held in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, and Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC.
Honouring NHPC’s Legacy and National Contribution on NHPC Golden Jubilee
While congratulating NHPC Limited, the Union Minister said that the release of the commemorative coin symbolizes the Government of India’s recognition of NHPC’s enduring legacy and strategic contribution to India’s energy self-reliance.
He lauded NHPC for its “remarkable journey of resilience, innovation, and service to the nation,” adding that the organization has played a vital role in harnessing India’s renewable energy potential and achieving sustainable development goals.
Launch of Comic Book ‘Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh’
As part of the celebration, the Union Minister also released a specially curated comic book titled “Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh.”
Developed in collaboration with the creators of the popular animated character Chhota Bheem, the publication aims to educate children and the general public about the importance and benefits of hydropower through engaging storytelling and vibrant illustrations.
The comic blends entertainment with awareness, reflecting NHPC’s commitment to public outreach and environmental education.
CMD NHPC Expresses Gratitude
On this occasion, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Minister and the Ministry of Power for their guidance and support.
He said, “The Government of India’s release of a ₹50 Commemorative Coin on NHPC’s Golden Jubilee is a tribute to our organization’s illustrious journey and its contribution to the nation’s energy self-reliance.
