New Delhi: State-run hydropower giant NHPC Ltd has announced a delay in the full commissioning of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Project located in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The company now expects to complete the remaining capacity by September 30, 2025, extending the original timeline by one month.
Majority Capacity Already Operational
NHPC informed stock exchanges that 214.28 MW of the project’s total 300 MW capacity has already been successfully commissioned. The Karnisar project is designed as a grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, marking a significant addition to NHPC’s renewable energy portfolio.

Revised Commissioning Timeline
The company’s filing under SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015, states that the remaining capacity will now come online by the end of September instead of August 31, as earlier anticipated. NHPC did not specify the reasons behind the delay.
Strategic Importance in Renewable Expansion
The Karnisar Solar Power Project is an integral part of NHPC’s strategy to diversify beyond hydropower into solar and wind energy. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy goals and expanding its footprint in the renewable sector.
