Munger & Lakhisarai: As part of the Samriddhi Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an extensive review of ongoing development projects in Munger and Lakhisarai districts. During his visit, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple projects worth over ₹320 crore in Munger and ₹326 crore in Lakhisarai, covering infrastructure, industrial, and social development initiatives.
Major Inaugurations and Foundation Stones in Munger
In Munger, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated 52 projects worth ₹87 crore and laid the foundation for 26 projects worth ₹32 crore. Key highlights include:
- Inauguration of the newly constructed District Industrial Centre (DIC) building
- Inspection of the beautification work at Kasthaharni Ghat on the Ganga River
- Inauguration of the combined building for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairy Industries
- Provision of financial support under the Chief Minister Entrepreneur Scheme, distributing ₹60 lakh to beneficiaries
During the inspection of the DIC building, CM Kumar reviewed the public grievance and project management facilities, as well as stalls set up by local entrepreneurs, emphasizing support for small businesses.
Development Focus at Kasthaharni Ghat
Kasthaharni Ghat, a historic and religious site on the north-flowing Ganga, received special attention. The CM inspected the beautification works and instructed officials to further enhance facilities for pilgrims performing rituals and bathing. Historically, the site is linked to the Ramayana, where Lord Ram and Lakshman are believed to have bathed to cleanse sins after killing the demon Tadaka. The ghat is also associated with King Karna and is famous for its sunrise and sunset views.
Industrial and Agricultural Development Projects
CM Kumar inaugurated a District Resource and Training Centre under the Dairy, Fisheries & Animal Resource Department, offering training and support facilities. He also distributed grants totaling ₹8,83,340 under schemes for dairy unit setup and indigenous cattle development.
Significant projects inspected and inaugurated include:
- Road widening and strengthening works connecting Shastri Chowk, ITC Park, and other key areas in Munger
- Development of Rishikund tourist site and beautification of Kasthaharni Ghat
- Construction of new colleges and industrial parks in Sangrampur, Jamalpur, and Asarganj
- Four-lane ring road linking Bihar Yoga Vidyalaya to NH-333B
- Solar energy and infrastructure projects enhancing local connectivity
Development Initiatives in Lakhisarai
In Lakhisarai, the CM inaugurated 117 projects worth ₹118 crore and laid the foundation for 144 projects worth ₹208 crore. Key projects include:
- Inspection of the Kajra Solar Power Plant
- Launch of various infrastructure, social welfare, and industrial development schemes
During his visit, CM Kumar emphasized quality implementation and timely completion of all projects.
Focus on Public Engagement and Welfare
CM Nitish Kumar also participated in public dialogue sessions in both districts, addressing local citizens and ensuring that development plans cater to their needs. He stressed:
- Timely completion of development works
- Improved urban and rural infrastructure
- Strengthening livelihood and entrepreneurial opportunities
Through these initiatives, the Samriddhi Yatra aims to accelerate economic growth, enhance public welfare, and promote organized urban and rural development across Bihar.
