Patna: The political landscape in Bihar witnessed major developments on Wednesday as Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected the leader of the NDA Legislature Party, paving the way for him to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
NDA Unanimously Endorses Nitish Kumar
In the NDA Legislature Party meeting held in Patna, Samrat Chaudhary proposed Nitish Kumar’s name for the leadership, which was immediately seconded by JDU’s Vijendra Yadav and supported by LJPR’s Raju Tiwari, confirming Nitish Kumar as the unanimous choice to head the alliance. This endorsement solidified NDA’s stance that Nitish Kumar would continue to guide the new government.
Nitish Kumar Submits Resignation, Stakes Claim to Form New Government
Following the legislative meeting, Nitish Kumar reached Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan as a procedural requirement. Along with senior NDA leaders, he also presented a letter of support from all alliance partners, staking his claim to form the next government.
NDA Top Leadership to Remain Unchanged
Although the government will be new, the top leadership is set to remain unchanged. The BJP Legislature Party has decided to retain Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha as Deputy Chief Ministers. Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar was also elected leader of the JDU Legislature Party, completing the internal formalities for government formation.
Chirag Paswan Reaffirms Support
LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan attended the NDA meeting and publicly reiterated that Nitish Kumar would again be the Chief Minister. He congratulated the people of Bihar for the NDA’s decisive victory and assured full support for the alliance government.
