Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed Administrative Building and Academic Building (Arts Faculty) at Patna University, a landmark development aimed at strengthening the university’s infrastructure and enhancing the quality of education. The project, executed at a cost of ₹147.29 crore, is expected to provide modern facilities for both administrative operations and academic activities.
State-of-the-Art Facilities to Strengthen University Infrastructure
Following the inauguration, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a detailed inspection of the buildings and the facilities available. He emphasized that the upgraded infrastructure would streamline administrative processes and offer students a high-quality academic environment.
“The strengthening of educational infrastructure will not only make administrative tasks more efficient but also ensure that students have access to modern amenities and a conducive learning atmosphere,” said the Chief Minister.
The new Arts Faculty building is designed to support contemporary academic requirements, including spacious classrooms, faculty offices, seminar halls, and other essential facilities for students and staff. The administrative building will host various university offices, improving coordination and efficiency across departments.

Presence of Key Officials and Ministers
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Minister of Higher Education, Science & Technology and Technical Education Sunil Kumar, and Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Patna University, along with other university authorities. Their presence underscored the state government’s commitment to enhancing higher education in Bihar.
Student Protests During the Event
Despite the grand inauguration, the event witnessed protests from student leaders. They raised slogans, expressing dissatisfaction over not being informed about the program and claiming that the Vice-Chancellor had not been properly invited. The students argued that this overlooked the traditional practices of the university and demanded better inclusion in decision-making processes.

The new buildings at Patna University are part of the state government’s broader initiative to improve educational infrastructure across Bihar. By providing modern classrooms, advanced administrative facilities, and improved campus amenities, the government aims to create an environment that fosters academic excellence and research.
