Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates 700-Bed Male Barracks and “Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi” at Patna New Police Lines

State-of-the-art facility to provide nutritious meals, modern amenities, and employment to 120 women under Bihar government’s police welfare initiative

Patna, Bihar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated a state-of-the-art 700-bed male barracks along with a centralized kitchen-cum-dining facility at the Patna New Police Lines, aimed at improving living conditions for police personnel and providing modern amenities.

Modern Facilities for Police Personnel

The newly inaugurated centralized kitchen-cum-dining facility is designed to cater to approximately 3,000 police personnel residing at the campus. Named “Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi”, the kitchen will offer nutritious meals at affordable rates and help save both time and effort for the police, enabling them to perform their duties more efficiently.

The kitchen, spread across four floors, will also provide employment to 120 women under the Jeevika Didi scheme, empowering them while serving the police community.

The male barracks, constructed over seven floors, has been designed to accommodate 700 personnel, ensuring comfort and modern living standards.

Phase-2 Development Plans

During the inauguration, CM Nitish Kumar reviewed the Phase-2 expansion plans of the Patna Police Lines, with a proposed investment of ₹266 crore. The future development will include:

  • Sergeant Major Housing (14 flats)
  • Male Barracks (3 blocks, 700 beds per block)
  • Female Barracks (1 block, 500 beds)
  • US Quarters (84 flats) and LS Quarters (28 flats)
  • Servant Quarters, school building, sewer line, tubular firing range, and auditorium

Phase-1 of the project, including the administrative building, female barracks, male barracks, and the centralized kitchen-cum-dining facility, has now been completed and officially inaugurated.

CM Inspects “Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi”

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the first floor of the centralized kitchen and interacted with the Jeevika Didi workers, emphasizing the significance of such facilities in enhancing the welfare of police personnel. He urged officials to complete the Phase-2 development promptly to further improve infrastructure for police forces in the state.

The event was attended by Deputy CM and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, MD of Bihar Police Housing Corporation Alok Raj, CM’s Secretary Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna Commissioner Animesh Parashar, and Patna Range Inspector General Jitendra Rana, among other dignitaries.
