Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of the Patna Collectorate building on Monday, reviewing ongoing development works and assessing the new infrastructure in the collectorate premises.
Inspection of Key Offices and Meeting Halls
During his visit, CM Nitish Kumar inspected the fifth floor of the collectorate building, including:
- The Meeting Hall
- Office of the Deputy Development Commissioner, District Council
- Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Sadar
The Chief Minister also reviewed all other floors of the new collectorate building to ensure that construction quality and facilities meet modern standards.

Review of Road Construction from Collectorate Ghat to Sabhyata Dwar
The CM inspected the road under construction from Collectorate Ghat to Sabhyata Dwar, which aims to provide convenience to Chhath festival devotees, morning walkers, and visitors. He emphasized that completing the road promptly would enhance the aesthetic appeal and accessibility of Collectorate Ghat.
Officials were instructed to expedite the road construction and ensure timely completion for public use.
Directions for Police Office and Metro Connectivity
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also inspected the Senior Superintendent of Police office under construction within the collectorate premises and gave instructions for early completion.
During his visit, he reviewed the double-decker bridge and directed officials to complete remaining works in coordination with Patna Metro Rail Corporation, which will improve connectivity between the collectorate and metro stations.
New Collectorate Building: Modern Facilities and Heritage Preservation
The new Patna Collectorate building has been constructed on the old 632-acre site along the Ganga river, replacing the dilapidated structures identified during the CM’s 2017 Nischay Yatra inspection.
Key features of the new collectorate include:
- Total built-up area: 28,388 square meters, significantly larger than the old building
- Offices for District Magistrate, District Council, Deputy Development Commissioner, and Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer
- Environmental considerations integrated into construction
- Modern facilities such as water treatment and sewer treatment plants
- 40 KW solar power plant for sustainable energy use
Parking and Heritage Conservation
The premises provide open parking for 204 four-wheelers and a basement parking for 240 vehicles.
In compliance with the High Court’s directives, the main pillars of the old collectorate building have been safely preserved within the premises, showcasing the heritage of the original structure.

The new Patna Collectorate building is a state-of-the-art administrative hub that blends modern amenities with heritage preservation. CM Nitish Kumar’s inspection reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing public services, improving accessibility, and modernizing administrative infrastructure along the Ganga riverfront.
