West Champaran: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated several development projects and laid the foundation for new initiatives in Valmikinagar, West Champaran district. During his visit, the CM also inspected ongoing development works and provided necessary instructions to officials to expedite completion.
Restoration of Don Canal Branch Service Path
CM Nitish Kumar visited the Don Canal Branch Service Path, where the restoration work is reported to be 80% complete. The canal, vital for irrigation, has seen its embankment roads concretized to facilitate smooth transportation and water management. The CM instructed officials to complete the remaining work promptly, emphasizing that the canal benefits a large number of local farmers and supports the government’s ongoing efforts for agricultural development.
Inspection of Gandak Dam and Eco-Tourism Projects
The Chief Minister also visited the Gandak Dam reservoir and reviewed the construction of the Ram-Luv Eco-Tourism Park. Officials provided updates on various components of the park through a site plan, highlighting the facilities being developed for visitors.
CM Nitish Kumar further toured the Valmikinagar Eco-Park and the guest house under the Water Resources Department, ensuring that infrastructure meets quality standards for tourism and public use.
Inauguration of Wildlife and Eco-Tourism Facilities
During his visit, the CM inaugurated several key tourism and wildlife conservation initiatives:
- Eco-Tourism Center, Valmikinagar
- Vulture Conservation Centers at Gonauli and Chiutahan
- Launched jungle safari vehicles by waving the green flag, enabling better forest exploration for tourists
Nitish Kumar stated that these initiatives are part of the government’s plan to develop Valmikinagar as a major eco-tourism destination, enhancing tourist facilities and promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
Focus on Agricultural and Tourism Development
The CM emphasized the dual focus of government efforts:
- Expedited completion of irrigation and infrastructure projects to benefit local farmers
- Development of eco-tourism and wildlife conservation facilities to attract visitors and boost the local economy
Through these initiatives, Valmikinagar is set to become a prominent eco-tourism hub in Bihar, offering improved amenities and experiences for tourists while supporting sustainable rural development.
