NMDC Signs MoU with IIT Kanpur to Boost Cybersecurity Through Risk Assessment and SOC Benchmarking

Partnership aims to strengthen NMDC’s digital infrastructure with advanced cyber risk analysis, SOC model benchmarking, and improved incident response planning.

New Delhi: In a strategic move to bolster its digital security landscape, NMDC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to collaborate on advanced cybersecurity initiatives. The agreement marks a significant step toward strengthening NMDC’s resilience against emerging cyber threats as the organisation continues to expand its digital footprint.

MoU Signed in Presence of Senior Leadership

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Satyendra Rai, Executive Director (Digital Transformation) at NMDC, and Prof. Ashoke De, Dean of R&D at IIT Kanpur. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, along with senior NMDC officials and representatives from the institute, highlighting the importance of this partnership.

Key Focus Areas: Risk Assessment, SOC Benchmarking, Governance

Under this collaboration, IIT Kanpur will support NMDC in conducting comprehensive cyber risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security gaps. The institute will also assist in benchmarking Security Operations Centre (SOC) models to ensure NMDC’s SOC capabilities meet global standards and incorporate the latest advancements in cybersecurity.

In addition, the partnership will focus on building robust security governance frameworks and effective incident response plans, enabling NMDC to strengthen preparedness and reduce cyber risks proactively.

This strategic initiative aims to fortify NMDC’s digital infrastructure and align its cybersecurity practices with industry-leading standards. By collaborating with one of India’s premier technology institutions, NMDC seeks to further enhance its capability to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats in an increasingly digital operational environment.
