In a recent development, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not recommended any candidate for the position of Director (Human Resources, Film Production & Promotion) at the National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC). The selection meeting was held on May 6, 2025.
Only one candidate, D Ramakrishnan, currently serving as General Manager and also holding additional charge as CEO of both the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 and Film Bazaar 2024, appeared for the interview. However, after evaluation, the PESB concluded that he did not meet the requisite criteria for recommendation.
Following the decision, the Board has advised the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to consider alternative options for filling the vacancy. This includes the possibility of constituting a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) to identify a suitable candidate.
The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), headquartered in Mumbai, is a central agency under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, established in 1975. It is responsible for financing, producing, and distributing high-quality Indian cinema and plays a pivotal role in promoting film culture and industry growth in India.
This development adds a new layer of uncertainty in NFDC’s leadership, particularly in a role crucial to talent management and the strategic promotion of Indian cinema on both domestic and international fronts.
