Guwahati: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) to develop a dedicated 33 kV NRL bay at the 132 kV Sipajhar Grid Substation (GSS). The agreement, effective March 23, 2026, marks a major step toward strengthening power infrastructure for critical oil pipeline operations in Assam.
Enhancing Power Supply for Strategic Pipeline Operations
The proposed infrastructure aims to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to NRL’s Intermediate Pigging-cum-Pumping Station No. 3 (IPPS-3) located at Patgirichuba in Darrang district.
This facility is a crucial component of the Paradip–Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline project, which is designed to improve crude oil transportation efficiency across regions. By securing a stable power source, the project is expected to significantly enhance operational reliability and energy connectivity.
MoU Signing Ceremony at Bijuli Bhawan
The MoU was formally signed at Bijuli Bhawan on March 23, 2026, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
