New Delhi: State-owned power major NTPC has announced the commercial capacity addition of 359.58 MW through several solar power projects developed by its subsidiaries in Gujarat and Rajasthan. With this latest milestone, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has risen to 85,541 MW, reinforcing its position as India’s largest power generation company.
Khavda Solar Project Sees Major Progress
A significant portion of the newly commissioned capacity comes from Gujarat. NTPC declared the commercial operation date (COD) for 243.66 MW of capacity from the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project. The project is being implemented by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) through its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
The Khavda project is part of NTPC’s broader renewable energy expansion strategy and is expected to play a key role in meeting India’s growing clean energy requirements.
Rajasthan Solar Projects Achieve COD
In Rajasthan, NTPC announced the COD of 78 MW from its Nokh Sokar Solar PV Project, which has a total planned capacity of 245 MW (3×245 MW). The project marks another step forward in strengthening solar generation capacity in the desert state, which has emerged as a major renewable energy hub.
Additionally, NTPC declared the COD for 37.925 MW from the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which falls under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project of NTPC REL. This project integrates renewable sources to ensure reliable and sustainable power generation.
Strong Project Pipeline Under Construction
NTPC currently has 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, of which 13.3 GW is from renewable energy sources. These ongoing projects highlight the company’s aggressive push toward clean energy and its commitment to India’s long-term energy transition goals.
