New Delhi: NTPC Limited announced the declaration of commercial operation for an additional 125 MW capacity at its 500 MW Bhadla Solar PV Project in Phalodi, Rajasthan. This milestone marks a significant step in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy.
According to a regulatory filing, the second part of the 125 MW capacity achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) effective January 31, 2026. The project is being implemented by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, through NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
The COD declaration was based on certification issued by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RREC) on February 3, 2026.
Boost to NTPC Group’s Total Installed and Commercial Capacity
With this addition, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has now reached 87,790 MW, while the total commercial capacity stands at 86,710 MW.
Separately, NTPC Green Energy Limited announced that the group’s commercial renewable energy capacity has now risen to 8,688.25 MW. Following the 125 MW addition, the total installed capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited has increased to 8,813.25 MW.

Bhadla Solar Park: A Global Renewable Energy Landmark
The Bhadla Solar Park, located in Rajasthan’s Thar desert, is among the largest solar power parks in the world. The project is a cornerstone of NTPC’s strategy to scale up its green energy portfolio, aligning with India’s clean energy targets and net-zero commitments.
