New Delhi/Greater Noida: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, has successfully declared the commercial operation of 37.925 MW capacity from its Khavda Solar Energy Project in Gujarat. This marks the fifth part capacity of the 300 MW Khavda project, which is part of the larger 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project under NTPC Renewable Energy. The new capacity became operational from 00:00 hours on 18 December 2025.
Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Portfolio
With the commissioning of the Khavda Solar Project capacity, the total installed capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited and its subsidiaries has increased from 7,889.335 MW to 7,927.26 MW. The addition underscores NGEL’s commitment to scaling up clean energy infrastructure and contributing to India’s renewable energy targets.
The project also supports diversification of NTPC’s energy mix by increasing the share of solar power in its overall generation portfolio. It is expected to help meet the growing energy demand sustainably while contributing to the country’s low-carbon energy transition.

The Khavda Solar Energy Project is a strategic initiative under NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), aimed at harnessing solar energy potential in Gujarat.
