NGEL’s Green Hydrogen Ambitions Grow
The proposed hydrogen fuelling station at VOC Port is part of NGEL’s broader strategy to develop green hydrogen hubs across India. In addition to this project, NGEL is currently working on establishing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The company is also targeting a renewable energy capacity of 60 GW by 2032, supported by integrated energy storage solutions, according to a statement released by NTPC.
Strategic Move for Sustainable Port Operations
This collaboration aligns with the central government’s commitment to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to promote clean energy alternatives in hard-to-abate sectors like shipping, heavy transport, and industrial zones.
The fuelling station at VOC Port is expected to facilitate hydrogen-powered vehicles and machinery within the port area, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and significantly cutting carbon emissions.
