NTPC Renewable Energy Signs MoU with Gujarat Government to Develop 15 GW Solar and Wind Projects

The partnership aims to boost Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity with 10 GW solar and 5 GW wind projects, advancing India’s clean energy goals under the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference 2025.

Mehsana: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat for the development of renewable energy projects totaling 15 GW capacity. This includes 10 GW of solar parks and projects and 5 GW of wind energy projects in the state.

The MoU was exchanged on October 9, 2025, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Mehsana, North Gujarat. The conference, inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel, focuses on promoting sectors such as dairy and food processing, agriculture and agro-based industries, automobile components, engineering, renewable energy, and tourism. This initiative aims to expand the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit to every region of the state, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 for sustainable and inclusive development.

Boosting Gujarat’s Renewable Energy Ambitions

This MoU marks a significant milestone in Gujarat’s renewable energy journey, leveraging NTPC REL’s expertise in large-scale clean energy project development. The planned solar and wind parks will capitalize on Gujarat’s abundant natural resources, contributing substantially to the state and country’s clean energy targets.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of renewable energy in driving Gujarat’s growth and sustainability, while NTPC REL reaffirmed its commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through innovative and large-scale renewable projects.
