NTPC Unchahar Celebrates 51st Raising Day with Green Initiatives, Scholarships, and a Renewed Commitment to Sustainable Growth

Marking over five decades of excellence in power generation, NTPC Unchahar celebrated the 51st Raising Day with a plantation drive of 2,000 saplings, merit scholarships for students, and inspiring messages from CMD Gurdeep Singh, reaffirming NTPC’s mission of sustainable, inclusive, and responsible energy development.

New Delhi: NTPC Unchahar celebrated the 51st Raising Day of NTPC Limited with great enthusiasm, commemorating more than five decades of leadership in power generation and nation-building. The celebration reflected NTPC’s core values of sustainability, innovation, integrity, and social responsibility, aligning with its vision of delivering reliable power while fostering environmental and community development.

Green Start: 2,000 Saplings Planted Near Arkha Ash Dyke

The day began with a massive plantation drive near the Arkha Ash Dyke, where 2,000 saplings were planted by employees, officials, and volunteers. The initiative reaffirmed NTPC’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and its goal of achieving a greener, more sustainable future.

CMD Gurdeep Singh Addresses Employees Nationwide

The official ceremony commenced with a live telecast of the Raising Day address by Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC, from the EOC, New Delhi. In his address, Mr. Singh reflected on NTPC’s five-decade journey of excellence, resilience, and innovation, while urging employees to continue advancing the company’s mission of sustainable and reliable energy generation for India.

During the event, Mr. Singh also inaugurated the newly constructed VIP Guest House ‘Sangam’ at NTPC Unchahar, adding another milestone to the project’s growing infrastructure.

Local-Level Celebrations Led by Project Head Abhay Kumar Srivastava

At the project level, celebrations were led by Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Executive Director and Head of Project, NTPC Unchahar, at the Safety Park. The event was graced by Anupama Srivastava, President, Priyadarshini Ladies Club, along with General Managers Asutosh Biswas, Dillip Kumar Sahu, S. U. Haridas, AC-CISF Ajay Tripathi, departmental heads, employees, and representatives of various unions and associations.

The programme began with the flag unfurling ceremony, followed by the singing of the NTPC anthem, symbolizing unity and pride among the workforce. In his address, Mr. Srivastava lauded the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of all employees, crediting them for NTPC Unchahar’s sustained operational success and growth.

Scholarships and Awards Highlight Commitment to Education and Integrity

A key highlight of the day was the distribution of NTPC Utkarsh Merit Scholarships to 30 meritorious students from six nearby government schools. The scholarships, awarded under General, Girls, SC/ST, and PWD categories, recognized exceptional performances in the Class 10 and 12 board examinations (2024–25).

Additionally, a quiz competition for employees was organized to promote knowledge sharing and engagement. Winners were felicitated during the ceremony, alongside the prize distribution for Vigilance Awareness Week competitions, reinforcing NTPC’s dedication to transparency, ethics, and excellence.

Patriotic Conclusion with ‘Vande Mataram’

The celebrations concluded on a patriotic note with a mass singing of “Vande Mataram” led by students of DAV School, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song. The rendition served as a poignant reminder of NTPC’s unwavering commitment to national progress, unity, and service.

A Celebration of Legacy and Vision

The 51st Raising Day celebration at NTPC Unchahar was not just an event—it was a tribute to NTPC’s golden legacy of nation-building and a reaffirmation of its vision for a sustainable and energy-secure India. The occasion beautifully blended environmental consciousness, educational empowerment, and patriotic spirit—hallmarks of NTPC’s enduring journey of excellence.
