Indian Masterminds Stories

Ahmedabad: In a significant development for India’s solar energy sector, Solarium Green Energy Limited has been awarded a major rooftop solar project by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN). The company announced that it has received a Notification of Award (NoA) valued at approximately ₹8.05 crore (exclusive of GST) for the 2,083 kW rooftop solar project at the Salem Steel Plant in Tamil Nadu.

Contract Awarded Under Pan-India Rooftop Solar Tender

The project falls under NVVN’s nationwide tender titled “Selection & Discovery of L1 Rates for Rate Contract for EPC of Grid Connected Rooftop Solar PV Projects (Above 1000 KW) across India.” Solarium Green Energy’s selection for this high-capacity industrial rooftop installation underscores the company’s growing expertise in executing large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solar projects.

According to the official announcement, the project is expected to be completed within 180 days from the date of the Notification of Award.

Scope of Work and Strategic Significance

The contract scope includes:

  • Local transportation of all equipment
  • Inland transit insurance and incidental delivery costs
  • Complete installation services for solar components
  • Civil and allied construction work
  • Implementation of all required safety measures

This award is not only expected to boost Solarium Green Energy’s customer base, but also contribute positively to its profitability and future project pipeline.

A company spokesperson noted,

This project reinforces our commitment to expanding solar energy adoption in the industrial sector and strengthens our track record in executing complex rooftop solar systems. We thank NVVN for their trust and look forward to delivering a successful project.”

Advancing India’s Renewable Energy Goals

The Salem Steel Plant project is part of a broader national effort to increase the penetration of solar energy, particularly in industrial and institutional segments. Rooftop solar systems are crucial for decentralized energy generation, helping reduce dependency on the central grid while supporting India’s renewable energy and climate goals.

By leveraging industrial rooftops such as those at Salem Steel Plant, the government aims to optimize energy use, cut carbon emissions, and reduce operational energy costs for public sector units.

This latest contract award marks a milestone for Solarium Green Energy Limited, highlighting its competitive positioning in India’s rapidly expanding solar EPC market. With the project expected to be completed within six months, all eyes will be on the company’s ability to deliver high-quality infrastructure on time and within budget.
