In a significant move to enhance governance at the local level, the Odisha government has appointed seven newly inducted IAS officers from the 2023 batch as Executive Officers for various municipalities across the state. This initiative is part of the officers’ district training program, aimed at providing them with practical experience in urban local bodies (ULBs).
According to a notification from the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department, Ms. Ashni AL will serve as the Executive Officer for Rairangpur Municipality in Mayurbhanj District. Her appointment is effective from October 27, 2024, to November 17, 2024, during which she will hold financial authority.
In addition, Ms. Tejaswini Behera has been appointed as the Executive Officer for Talcher Municipality in Angul District, while Abhishek Dilip will take on the role of Executive Officer at Jaleswar Municipality in Balasore District.
Further appointments include Ms. Pranita Dash, who will serve as the Executive Officer for Hinjilicut Municipality in Ganjam District, and Ms. Preksha Agrawal, who has been posted to Anandpur Municipality in Keonjhar District.
During this training period, the current Executive Officers in these ULBs will continue to serve as Additional Executive Officers, ensuring a smooth transition and effective governance.
This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of newly appointed IAS officers while strengthening urban administration in Odisha.
