Bhubaneswar – In a significant administrative development, the Government of Odisha has promoted two Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers to the Senior Time Scale (Level-11 of the Pay Matrix), under Rule 3 of the IFS (Pay) Rules, 2016. The promotion, effective from January 1, 2025, recognizes the exemplary performance and dedication of the officers in forest management and conservation.

The officers elevated are Mohammed Fatahun Azeez Khan and Shri Ohol Sachin Annasaheb, both members of the 2021 Regular Recruit batch. Despite their elevation, the officers have been placed in situ, meaning they will continue to hold their current postings until further orders are issued by the government.

Significance of the Promotion

The Senior Time Scale is a crucial step in the career progression of IFS officers, reflecting increased responsibility and recognition within the forest department. This promotion not only acknowledges their individual commitment but also aims to strengthen Odisha’s forest governance and environmental stewardship.

Such advancements are vital for maintaining a motivated cadre of officers who manage the state’s rich biodiversity, wildlife habitats, and forest resources. Odisha, known for its extensive forest cover and wildlife sanctuaries, depends heavily on the efficiency and expertise of its forest officers to implement conservation programs and enforce forest laws effectively.

Background and Career Outlook

The IFS officers promoted belong to the 2021 batch, indicating their early career progression within four years of service—a testament to their capabilities and performance standards. Officers in the Senior Time Scale often take on enhanced administrative roles, policy implementation duties, and leadership in field operations that are critical for sustainable forest management.
