New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem as Director (Production) of the company with effect from September 21, 2026.
The appointment was approved by the ONGC Board of Directors following a letter issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on September 21, 2026. The company disclosed the appointment under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Nettem will hold the position until his superannuation on September 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

As per the company’s disclosure, Nettem’s appointment as Director (Production) takes effect from September 21, 2026.

Over Three Decades of Experience in ONGC
Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem is a Mechanical Engineer with more than three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, primarily with ONGC.
He began his professional career with ONGC in 1991 at the Mumbai High Offshore Oilfield, gaining extensive experience in offshore oil and gas operations.
He subsequently completed a master’s degree in International Business in 2006, adding management and business expertise to his technical background.
Over the course of his career, he has held several operational and leadership positions across ONGC’s assets and projects.
Key Leadership Roles and Career Highlights
Nettem has handled responsibilities across offshore operations, asset management, field development and business planning.
His career highlights include:
- Serving as Asset Manager of Assam Asset at Nazira.
- Holding leadership responsibilities at the Mumbai High Asset.
- Working with ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) on deepwater operations.
- Gaining experience in business development and field development planning.
- Leading feasibility studies for greenfield refinery projects at Kakinada and Barmer.
- Playing a role in the joint venture associated with production from the Mangala oilfields in Rajasthan.
- Contributing to the commissioning of the heated crude oil pipeline from Barmer to Bhogat.
His varied assignments have given him experience across both domestic and international aspects of the energy business.
Experience With ONGC Videsh and Deepwater Operations
Nettem has also worked with ONGC Videsh Limited, where his responsibilities included areas related to deepwater operations, business development and field development planning.
The experience provided exposure to complex offshore projects and international oil and gas operations.
His background in offshore assets and field development is also relevant to ONGC’s broader focus on maintaining and enhancing domestic oil and gas production.
Current Role as Chairman of Indradhanush Gas Grid
Prior to his appointment as Director (Production), Nettem also served as Chairman of Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL).
IGGL is a joint venture involved in developing the North East Gas Grid, aimed at strengthening natural gas pipeline infrastructure in the northeastern region of India.
His association with IGGL adds to his experience in the development of gas infrastructure and the wider energy value chain.
